Aftercare services:

Mission: To facilitate continued success and prevent unnecessary family disruption by removal of a youth from the home through continued support, case management and other supplemental services following termination of a shelter stay with both the youth and family.

For six months, or more, following a resident's exit date, the Supplemental Services Manager or Aftercare Case Manager continues to work with the youth and family.  The level of care provided is determined in collaboration with the clients. This service is designed to encourage continued progress on goals, offer support, make connections with other community agencies, and assist families in being a successful family unit.

We work in collaboration with all other service providers working with the family to make sure the best service plan is made and followed through on.

Aftercare clients are also eligible to receive a print or electronic version of our monthly past resident newsletter, which contains shelter news, tips such as healthy snacking and avoiding heat-related sickness, and a schedule of shelter events and activities.  Most aftercare clients are welcome to call and join in on any shelter activity.

For any of the above services please contact Supplemental Services Manager, Meghan Dailey, suppservices@jsysi.org.  You can also contact Steve Bernet, Aftercare Case Manager, mentor@jsysi.org.

Activities  program:

Mission: To help foster social responsibility, increase self-efficacy, and increase the general knowledge base of residents, past residents and community members through interesting, thought-provoking and unique experiences that build upon the main Jackson Street Youth Shelter program.

This program is a collaborative effort among the Supplemental Services Manger, Activities Coordinator, and the Linn-Benton-Lincoln communities.  Many community members and groups are invited to the shelter to share their area(s) of expertise.  All residents currently residing at the shelter are required to participate in this program and past residents are invited to join, as well. Residents learn about topics ranging from tobacco prevention to cultures from around the world and money management to soil.  Also, some activities are meant solely for fun, such as trips to the pool, beach, bowling, and movies.  This service is free or included in your sliding scale overnight fee.

Some of our larger shelter activity programs consist of CHILL (snowboarding), Climbing To Success (rock climbing), and Service Learning Club (leadership and real world experience).

The shelter is currently developing ways to involve youth from our communities that are not residing in-shelter.  One way that this is possible is through JSYSI's Outreach Programs.

For any of the above services please contact Activities Coordinator, Brandon Neal, activities @jsysi.org.  You can also contact Meghan Dailey, Supplemental Services Manager, suppservices@jsysi.org
